WARMHEARTH
WARMHEARTH partners Malawi's identity as the warm heart of Africa with Gottfried Semper's theory, considering the hearth as the foundational element of architecture.
Partnership with MUBAS (Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences) in Blantyre, Malawi as part of the International Credit Mobility Program supported by the European Union
During the winter term of 2024/25, we had the privilege of hosting seven architecture students and two of their teachers from Blantyre, Malawi. This visit was made possible through funding provided by the European Union under the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility program, following a successful application led by Univ. Prof. Michelle Howard.
Over the three months they stayed with us, the students participated in a wide array of courses across various levels of study within the IKA. Toward the end of the semester, their teachers joined them to take part in year-end reviews and the academy’s open days. The exchange proved to be an exceptionally enriching experience for both our visitors and our institution, leaving us hopeful that such visits can become a regular tradition in the future.
