GONE WITH THE WIND
This semester we investigated how materials construction and technologies are shaped by the elemental force of the wind, where they resist, where they interact and where they simply "go with the flow".
Observe: In the first two weeks the students looked at a number of art, architecture and engineering works which have been shaped by elemental forces. In the following two weeks they looked very closely at and recorded the actions of the wind, this both in experiments and random incidents they have noticed. Here methods were developed to record that looking.
Make: The students were then asked to design and construct an element whose nature is determined by the interactivity they determined for it. The construction and interactivity chosen for this element should have resulted from their research and observations. It is these constructions which you can observe here with your eyes, your skin, your ears and your body.We have placed 2 large ventilators in the apex of the Prospekthof and the student installations are placed according to their desired wind intensity. Some projects desire very little wind, these will be shown at intervals accompanied by a performance when the ventilators will stop. Please enjoy, let yourself be transported by the wind!
